Nintendo Switch USB-C port repair.

The USB-C port carries both charge and video on a Switch, so when it wears out the console stops charging, stops docking, or does both. The connector takes constant mechanical stress and is a common failure point.

A website request is non-binding. Do not post your device until it has been accepted in writing.

What this fault usually looks like

  • The console only charges when the cable is held at a particular angle.
  • Charging stops and starts on its own while the cable is still plugged in.
  • The dock no longer produces a picture on the television.
  • The cable feels loose, or there is grit and lint visible inside the port.
  • The console will not power on at all after the battery ran flat.

How the repair is actually done

Every stage is recorded, and nothing beyond the agreed work happens without your written approval.

  1. Separate the port from the charging circuit

A Switch that will not charge is not always a port. I check whether the connector, the charging circuit, or the battery is responsible before quoting, because those are different repairs.

  2. Remove the worn connector

The port is removed with controlled heat so the pads underneath survive and their condition can be inspected.

  3. Inspect the pads and traces

A port that has been forced or levered often takes pads with it. Any reconstruction needed is counted, priced, and approved by you first.

  4. Fit, charge and dock test

The replacement is fitted, then the console is charge-tested and checked in a dock before it is packed for return.

What this price does not cover

The limits are published here rather than discovered on your invoice.

  • The listed price assumes the pads under the port are intact. Reconstruction is a separately priced item, quoted before I continue.
  • Charging integrated circuit failures and other board faults are not covered by this price and are quoted separately once identified.
  • Battery replacement, screen damage and Joy-Con faults are separate jobs.

Common questions

My Switch will not charge at all. Is that still this repair?
It might be. A dead port and a failed charging circuit produce the same symptom, so I diagnose which it is before quoting. If it turns out to be the circuit rather than the connector, you get a separate written price and decide from there.
Will docking to the television work again afterwards?
Where the port was the reason docking failed, yes, and I dock-test before return. Where the fault sits deeper in the video path, that is a different repair and I tell you before any work is agreed.
Does this cover the OLED and Lite models?
The listed price covers the standard USB-C connector across the Switch range where the pads are intact. Model-dependent differences are confirmed when I inspect the console.
Should I post my console now?
No. Do not post your device until your request has been accepted in writing and the private postal and packing instructions have been sent to you.
