Controller stick drift repair.

Stick drift is mechanical wear inside the stick module, not a software fault you have caused. Recalibrating hides it for a while; replacing the mechanism is what actually fixes it.

A website request is non-binding. Do not post your device until it has been accepted in writing.

What this fault usually looks like

  • The camera or character moves while you are not touching the stick.
  • Recalibrating helps for a short time and then the drift returns.
  • The stick registers input before you have moved it off centre.
  • Aim pulls consistently in one direction.
  • The stick feels loose, gritty, or scratchy as it moves.

How the repair is actually done

Every stage is recorded, and nothing beyond the agreed work happens without your written approval.

  1. Confirm drift rather than firmware

I test the controller and check that the behaviour is mechanical wear before replacing anything, so you are not paying for a part you did not need.

  2. Replace the stick mechanism

The worn module is removed and a replacement fitted. You choose one stick or the pair; the pair is priced lower than two singles because the controller only comes apart once.

  3. Consider the Hall-effect option

A Hall-effect mechanism uses magnetic sensing rather than a wearing carbon track, which removes the usual cause of drift returning. It is a separately priced upgrade and entirely your choice.

  4. Calibrate and function test

The controller is calibrated and every stick, trigger and button is checked before it is packed for return.

What this price does not cover

The limits are published here rather than discovered on your invoice.

  • The standard price covers the stick mechanism. The Hall-effect upgrade is a separate priced item, not an automatic substitution.
  • Worn triggers, bumpers, buttons and charging faults are separate jobs, quoted separately if you want them dealt with at the same time.
  • Where a controller has been previously opened or repaired, I inspect before confirming the price.

Common questions

Should I repair one stick or both?
If only one drifts, one repair is enough. The pair price exists because the controller only has to be opened once, so doing both together costs less than two separate visits if the second stick is also worn.
Is the Hall-effect upgrade worth it?
It replaces the wearing carbon track with magnetic sensing, which removes the usual cause of drift coming back. It costs more than a standard mechanism. Both prices are published so you can decide, and I fit whichever you approve.
Which controllers do you work on?
Console controllers across the current and previous generations. Tell me the exact controller in your request and I confirm before you send anything.
Should I post my controller now?
No. Do not post your device until your request has been accepted in writing and you have the private postal and packing instructions.
