Liquid damage strip, clean and assessment.

Liquid damage is corrosion, and corrosion keeps working long after the device has dried. The sooner a board is stripped and cleaned properly, the more of it survives. Nobody can promise you a recovery, and I will not pretend otherwise.

A website request is non-binding. Do not post your device until it has been accepted in writing.

What this fault usually looks like

  • The device was dropped in water, or a drink went over it.
  • It worked at first and then began behaving strangely days later.
  • It will not charge, or charges only sometimes, after getting wet.
  • The screen, speakers or buttons stopped working after exposure.
  • There is visible residue, tidemarks or green corrosion inside.

How the repair is actually done

Every stage is recorded, and nothing beyond the agreed work happens without your written approval.

  1. Strip the device down

The device is taken apart so the board itself can be reached. Rice, drying bags and airing on a windowsill do not remove corrosion; they just delay the work.

  2. Treat the corrosion

The board is cleaned and corrosion treated so damaged areas can actually be seen and assessed rather than guessed at.

  3. Assess and report honestly

You receive a written assessment of what survived, what did not, and what further work would cost. That report is the thing you are paying for, and it is useful even when the answer is bad news.

  4. Agree any further repair separately

If the board can be taken further, that work is quoted and approved on its own. Nothing beyond the strip, clean and assessment happens without your written agreement.

What this price does not cover

The limits are published here rather than discovered on your invoice.

  • This price buys the strip, corrosion treatment, board clean and assessment. It does not buy a working device, and it carries no outcome guarantee.
  • Replacement parts and any further repair work are priced separately once the assessment is complete.
  • I do not offer specialist data recovery. If the data matters more than the device, say so in your request before sending anything.
  • A device that has been submerged and then charged or powered on repeatedly is usually in worse condition than one that was left alone.

Common questions

Will my device definitely work again?
No, and anyone promising otherwise is guessing. Liquid damage is corrosion, and how much survives depends on what got wet, for how long, and what happened afterwards. The assessment tells you where the device actually stands.
What am I paying for if it cannot be fixed?
The strip, corrosion treatment, board clean and a written assessment of what was found. That is real work and it is the only way to know the true condition. The price page explains the published boundary when a repair cannot be completed.
Should I put it in rice first?
No. Rice does nothing about corrosion and the delay usually makes matters worse. Stop using the device, do not try to charge it, and describe what happened in your request.
Should I post my device now?
No. Do not post your device until your request has been accepted in writing and you have received the private postal and packing instructions.
